Roof and wall-mounted PV, installed and fully commissioned in one month. Wall-mounted panels captured capacity a roof-only design would have left on the table - which is how the system reached a sub-six-year payback on an operational site.

Is this for us?

This works best if…

  • Your electricity demand is concentrated in daytime hours - warehousing, manufacturing, retail, offices.
  • You have roof or ground space that's structurally suitable.
  • You want to reduce exposure to volatile grid pricing.
UK incentives

HMRC pays a share of the capex.

Solar PV qualifies for Full Expensing - limited companies can deduct 100% of qualifying plant against corporation tax in year one. For companies on the 25% main rate that's roughly a quarter off gross capex, on top of the electricity you no longer buy.

  • Full Expensing - 100% first-year allowance for limited companies
  • SEG export tariff income for surplus generation
  • Hedge against volatile wholesale electricity prices
  • Scope 2 emissions cut - supports CSRD / SECR reporting

General guidance only - not tax or financial advice. Capital allowance rules and caps change with fiscal events; companies on the small profits rate (19%) get proportionally less, and sole traders and partnerships aren't within the charge to corporation tax. Confirm your current position with an accountant before committing.

Questions

The obvious stuff, answered.

Is the estimate really free?+

Yes. Sun's free - and so is the estimate. We only ask for your details when you're ready to see the figures.

How accurate are the numbers?+

The model uses your actual monthly spend, roof orientation and obstruction level with UK-specific yield (≈950 kWh/kWp/yr) and commercial install rates. A survey confirms the final figures.

Do we need to own the freehold?+

No. Leased premises can still install with landlord consent. On the discovery call we cover ownership options, PPAs and lease structures. A lease shorter than the payback period is the one thing worth flagging early.

How does Full Expensing work for solar?+

Rooftop solar PV qualifies as plant & machinery. Limited companies subject to the 25% corporation tax main rate can deduct 100% of qualifying spend in year one - worth roughly a quarter of gross capex. Companies on the small profits rate get proportionally less; sole traders and partnerships fall outside the scheme.

Do I need planning permission?+

Most commercial installations fall under permitted development up to defined size and height thresholds. Listed buildings and conservation areas can trigger a full application - we check this early and manage any licences required.

How long does the whole process take?+

Typically 6 to 8 weeks from agreement to a fully commissioned system. DNO approval alone can take up to 90 days depending on your connection, so we start that early.

Will installation disrupt our operations?+

Most work happens outside the building. Expect some noise, temporary scaffolding or access changes, and short planned electrical shutdowns - scheduled around your quiet periods wherever possible.

Who's responsible for maintaining the system?+

As owner, monitoring and maintenance is technically your responsibility. Most clients take an O&M contract so we continue to monitor and maintain performance for the contract duration.

Does DNO approval affect feasibility?+

All UK solar and battery installations need Distribution Network Operator approval - typically G98 or G99 - confirming the grid can accommodate the system and any exported energy. We handle this application in-house.

What if our roof needs work first?+

We check this during the site survey. If remedial work is needed we can help source suitable contractors - scoped and costed separately from the system itself.

Will you spam our inbox?+

No. One confirmation email, then you deal directly with your specialist. That's it.

What happens next

Three steps between you and a decision.

  1. 01A short call to understand your site and energy position.
  2. 02A feasibility study, only where it's genuinely worth doing.
  3. 03A proposal naming the technology, the financing route, and who delivers it.

Find out what your roof is worth.

Sixty seconds. No hard sell. Numbers your finance team can defend.
